So, I’m a massive fan of Stephen Sondheim writer of musicals such as Into The Woods, Sweeney Todd and Sunday in the Park with George. About fifteen years ago. I went to see a production of Into the Woods at Regent’s Park at the open-air theatre, it’s all about fairy tales and the last song involves Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood. the Baker and Jack all singing: “No one is alone“. And it’s the most beautiful song. It’s about strength and guidance and realizing that now, we’ve all got to help each other. Before the final chord of the song, a real shooting star just fell from the sky and it literally took my breath away and I burst into tears.. You can’t control theatre at the best of times, but especially an outdoor performance. It was so magical, I just thought that will never ever happen again in any production of Into The Woods around the world. I always valued Sondheim’s work, but from that point on, it made me start to really think outside the box and approach my work in a different way because anything is possible.
